Ford’s F-150 has been a smash hit for the US ford lariat for sale in Australia, where it’s enjoying phenomenal sales growth. And it’s not hard to see why. It’s a full-sized truck that’s comfortable, quiet, powerful and packed with equipment. It also has a decent towing story and feels well-built, even in the ladder frame versions like this long wheelbase Lariat we tested.
The locally-converted 2023 F-150’s range kicks off at $106,950 for the XLT SWB and goes all the way up to $139,950 for the flagship Lariat we drove (both plus ORCs). Both are short-wheelbase utes but buyers keen on maximum tray capacity can opt for the longer long-wheelbase LWB version that adds 300mm between the axles.
Lariat gets a 12.0-inch centre touchscreen, a two-piece panoramic sunroof and heated/cooled leather seats. The centre screen is a noticeable upgrade over the XLT’s 8.0-inch unit, while the audio system has been improved with more sophisticated speakers that deliver richer and deeper sound than before.
Ford F150 Lariat for Sale: Reviews and Buying Tips
A rear-view camera is fitted to both cab variants, but only the Lariat gains a 360-degree surround view that’s useful for parking and towing. The rear seat is huge and surprisingly roomy – legroom is enough for NBA basketballers.
The F-150 is a fine addition to the booming full-size American ute segment. It’s a quality drive, loaded with equipment and offers reasonable towing and off-road capabilities, but it is expensive, thirsty and a bit gargantuan. For most ute buyers, a mid-size dual-cab with a diesel V6 will be the better option.
