What Are Wet Pour Surfaces?
Wet Pour Surfaces is a popular surface for playgrounds and has become the industry standard for safety surfacing. Its soft texture is comfortable and helps prevent injuries caused by falls. Its long life span and low maintenance costs make it a great value, particularly when compared to other playground surfaces that require frequent replacement or repair.
A wet pour surface is made up of two layers; a black base layer and a coloured top layer of fine rubber granules. The base is usually a recycled rubber material such as styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and the top is generally EPDM which is synthetically manufactured from rubber polyurethane. These two materials are mixed together with a polyurethane binder and laid onto an existing suitable sub-base such as open-textured asphalt or no fines concrete. The result is a smooth, hard-wearing, impact-absorbing surface that is available in a range of thicknesses to accommodate different critical fall heights (CFH).
Commercial Applications of Wet Pour Surfaces: Beyond Playgrounds
These surfaces do not contain any harsh chemicals or compounds that could irritate skin or cause other health problems. The rubber granules are also eco-friendly as they are made of recycled products.
Wet Pour Surfaces are easy to maintain and can be kept in pristine condition by simply spraying it with a hose or squeegee. Regular inspections and prompt repairs can help prolong the lifespan of a wet pour installation and ensure that it continues to meet required standards. This makes it a great choice for schools, parks, and local government facilities.
